Dutch family with children aged 14 and 11 and a friendly puppy seek an English-speaking family assistant/nanny. This is a sole charge role. Ideally, you are happy to commit for longer than a year (the previous nanny worked for the family for ten years). An ASAP start is preferred but they can wait for the right candidate. The hours need to be discussed it is likely to be 11 - 6 pm or 12 - 7 pm. Some flexibility in the evenings on occasion would be great.
The right person for this family is reliable, warm, and positive with a can-do attitude. Happy to muck in and help out. Someone who will set and hold boundaries and continue encouraging the children's independence and confidence. Someone happy to spend time with the children encourages them to be active, and help if needed but is happy to do other tasks as the children are quite independent.
Duties: The family is happy to discuss the job duties during the interview. Cooking simple meals for the whole family will be part of your job, doing the children's laundry and general tidying and organizing. The dog will be part of your responsibilities. He needs walks throughout the day, he is house-trained, very playful, and friendly. Other duties would be organizing the errands and arranging the children's schedules. Someone who can see where the family needs help and use their initiative to complete tasks.
Experience and qualifications required: Ideally, you have experience in similar roles. Great organization skills and proactive.
Skills required: It's preferred you are happy to cycle a bike, driving isn't a requirement.
Agency requirements: Applicants must have an EU passport or already have a permit or visa for the Netherlands. Applicants need a minimum of three years of full-time professional childcare experience, valid pediatric first aid, and a recent police check to register.
