Job summary: Fantastic opportunity living in the Belgium countryside caring for two children.
Your accommodation will be your own cottage next to their house with your own bathroom and kitchen. The live in Kaulille close to the Netherlands/Belgium border.
You must have an EU passport or Belgium residence permit to apply. It's vital you can drive.
The little girl is 2.5 and her brother is nearly nine months old.
You will be working five days per week mostly, including weekends. Two consecutive days off per week can be arranged. Your schedule will change every week, you will know in advance but being very flexible is vital for this job. It will be a minimum of 40 hours+ per week. The family is also happy to be flexible with the nanny's schedule.
The two-year-old is sociable, eats well, and sleeps well. She currently attends a local daycare and this will continue when the nanny starts. She has screen time but it’s fairly limited. The nanny needs to follow the little girl's routine and actively encourage her independence. They want a nanny who works in collaboration with the parents. The family is keen on routine, structure, setting boundaries, having rules, and encouraging manners.
The parents have varied work schedules and will be around at times so the nanny needs to be comfortable with a shared care role. There are other staff so you must be a team player and sociable.
Due to their jobs sometimes they may need you to travel and other times stay at home with the children. It’s important you are happy traveling but also being based in Belgium.
Ideal candidates are relaxed, kind, confident in making decisions and taking responsibility. Due to their jobs, you will have sole responsibility for the children at times. Someone with life experience, who is proactive and confident in taking initiative.
You need to come in with a plan for the day whether it’s activities at home, playdates, trips to the zoo, etc.
You need to be happy to commit for a year, ideally longer.
Duties: General tidying and cooking for the children are required. You won’t need to do laundry as they have a daily housekeeper. Cooking for the parents isn’t required. They may ask you to run the odd errand but your role will mainly be childcare.
One dog is living in the house and horses, cows and donkeys, etc living on the property. Caring for the animals is not the nanny's responsibility.
Experience and qualifications required: Extensive experience working with newborns and toddlers is required. A candidate who is confident driving children. Someone who has worked in similar roles who is familiar with traveling with a family and being a live-in nanny. Qualifications are not required.
Skills required: It’s vital you can drive, ideally, you are an experienced driver. A car can be provided. Being happy to ride a bike around the farm is a plus.
This is an English and Dutch-speaking household. You must speak a high level of English, Dutch isn’t required.
Agency requirements: Applicants must have an EU passport or already have a permit or visa for Belgium. Applicants need a minimum of three years of full-time professional childcare experience, valid pediatric first aid, and a recent police check to register.
